The petitioners in the PIL alleged that the Government had violated the rules by making changes to the existing system. Changes to the system will not only increase the tax amount but also puts a great burden on the taxpayers. The High Court said the petition will be heard. The petition is likely to come for a hearing tomorrow.
The petitions are rubbishing the claims of the Andhra Pradesh government saying that through the government said, the hike in the property tax will not be more than 15 percent, the amount is likely to get increased by 600 percent.
The idea to collect the property tax based on the value of the property of the taxpayers is against the rules. The move is nothing but an attempt to add more income to the government’s kitty, the petitioners alleged.
The local bodies have reportedly sent the message to the property owners on the change in the system. Based on the modifications changed to the tax payment system, the concerned bodies are bringing new ordinances. The changes in the tax payment were made by amending the Municipal Act.
