Health Department Confirms First COVID-19 Positive case in AP

It has been widely reported that the Nellore district of Andhra Pradesh reported a suspected coronavirus positive case. We might get more clarity on this, once the final tests of the medical examinations are out.
The person who had returned to India from Italy recently was admitted to the Nellore government hospital after he developed symptoms of severe cold, fever, and sore throat.
"Initial tests at Sri Venkateshwara Institute of Medical Sciences, Tirupati, indicated that he had symptoms of coronavirus. Fresh samples have been sent to the National Institute of Virology for further tests. Pending the test results, he has been quarantined in the isolation ward of the Nellore hospital and is being observed," Dr. S Rajya Lakshmi, Nellore district medical and health officer (DMHO) said.
State Medical and Health special Chief Secretary KS Jawahar Reddy said that around 75 patients visited AP since February 29. All of them have been under self-quarantined at their respective homes for 14 days besides following the strict instructions issued by the department.
