Healthcare Worker Dies A Day After Taking Covid-19 Vaccine
By: Tupaki Desk | 20 Jan 2021 11:02 AM GMTThree days after the largest vaccination drive started in India, a healthcare worker from Nirmal, Telangana died within 18 hours of taking an anti-coronavirus vaccine shot. A 42-year-old healthcare worker in Hyderabad died on Wednesday, a day after he was vaccinated with Covid-19 vaccine.
However, the government said it was not linked to the vaccine shot. In a statement released by the Directorate of Public Health, officials noted that he was vaccinated at around 11:30 am at PHC Kuntala on January 19. But in the late night, the 42-year-old had chest pain and was brought dead to hospital in Nirmal at 5:30 am.
"As per guidelines, postmortem will be conducted by a team of doctors. The district AEFI committee is examining the matter and will submit a report to the state AEFI committee," said a statement from the Director of Public Health.
"Preliminary findings suggest that the dead seems to be unrelated to the vaccination. As per the guidelines, postmortem will be conducted by a team of doctors," the statement also added.
The statement further said that the district Adverse Events Following Immunisation (AEFI) committee will submit its report to the state AEFI committee, which will further brief the Centre.
