Andhra Pradesh was hit hard by the severe floods leaving a few cities reporting tragic incidents. Roads were filled with water and a few vehicles were washed away. The water levels on the roads are making it difficult for the officials to carry out the rescue operations. We are hearing devastating stories due to the floods.

The temple City Tirupati is facing the wrath of the floods as the major parts of the city were drowned with the heavy pour. Buses and other vehicles were washed away and the pilgrims at the temples were stranded with the rainwater.

As per the estimations, as many as 17 people were believed to have passed away due to the heavy rains, while several others were reportedly washed away. It has been widely reported that the count of people who were washed away were more than 100.

To make the situation even worse, the water bodies and reservoirs were filled with water and the water is flowing into the low lying areas. Even the temples were filled with water. There were no such severe floods in the recent past.

With the situation reaching out of the hands, the disaster relief teams were called for the rescue operations and relief camps were set up in the districts for the victims. Helicopters were being used to evacuate people from places where vehicles cannot reach.

The continuous rains in the state is resulting in the rivers and waterbodies overflowing thus causing a great damage for the neighbouring areas.

Seeing the disastrous situation, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted an Aerial survey in the flood affected areas. He was informed by the officials on the damage caused by the floods.

As a precautionary measure, the Tirupati Ghat road and the Kadapa Airport were temporarily closed. The roads that lead to the Ghat were closed after landsliding incidents were reported from the temple City.

On Friday, the Chief Minister chaired a crucial review meeting with the district Collectors on the situation and instructed them on the measures that have to be taken to bring the situation under control.
