Two Companies operating from Silicon Valley and owned by an Indian-American were asked to pay a hefty fine of $103,000 to the federal government and also $84,000 in wages to its employees for alleged misuse of H-1B visas.

Kishore Kumar owned companies Scopus Consulting Group and Orian Engineers have been hiring workers from India and other countries for firms such as Apple, eBay and Cisco Systems and bring them to US using the H-1B visas. Most of these workers are underpaid and this eventually have a negative impact on the US nationals.

US Department of Labor Wage and Hour investigators found out that the two companies have violated the H-1B provisions by paying less wages to the employees. As a result, Mr.Kumar was directed to pay 21 employees $84,000 and his firms were also debarred from H-1B program participation for a period of one year.
