Hetero Gearing Up To Endow Generic Pandemic Drug In India
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 Jun 2020 7:42 AM GMTIndia's top most leading generic pharmaceutical company Hetero Drugs Limited which is all set to provide 20,000 vials of antiviral drug Covifir (remdesivir) under the first set for the pandemic treatment announced the price if the vial.
The Hyderabad based Hetero labs said that the Covifir, which is the generic version of the pandemic drug Remdesivir will be costing Rs 5,400 per 100 mg vial. The lab is making efforts to deliver 20,000 vials in the country.
With immediate effect, the first lot with 10,000 vials will be supplied to Hyderabad, Delhi, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, Mumbai, and other parts of Maharashtra for the emergency treatment requirements.
On the other hand, the second lot with another 10,000 vials will be supplied to other cities- Kolkata, Indore, Bhopal, Lucknow, Patna, Bhubaneshwar, Ranchi, Vijayawada, Cochin, Thiruvananthapuram, and Goa. This shipment will be sent within a week.
Managing Director of Hetero Healthcare, M. Srinivasa Reddy said that with the Covifor they are hoping that the pressure on the medical infrastructure and time have taken to treatment will be brought down.
He went on to say that, the generic drug is expected to be the game-changer in reducing the fatality rate in connection with the ongoing pandemic.
