High Court Permits Online Movie Ticket Sales in AP!
X
No matter how hard the film industry and the Multiplex association are opposing the online movie ticket sales, the Andhra Pradesh government is very adamant about the proposal and has been working on the same seriously. The strong nature of the state government made many heads turn.

The strong nature of the AP government made the ruling party get a big relief in the court. Hearing a petition, the Andhra Pradesh High Court gave its nod for the online sale of movie tickets. The court said that the movie tickets can be sold through the Andhra Pradesh Film Development Corporation (APFDC).

While the Andhra Pradesh government got a major sigh of relief, the multiplex association received a big blow. The association had knocked on the doors of the High Court challenging the proposal to sell the movie tickets online. The multiplex association of India opposed the GO 142 and moved the court.

During the arguments, the multiplex association had requested the High Court to let them sell the tickets on their platforms. However, the bench of the High Court said that the multiplexes cannot be permitted as of now. The association said that tickets can be sold through AAFDC and their platforms as well.

Countering the arguments, the lawyers representing the government said that other platforms like Bookmyshow expressed their interest in working with them but the multiplexes are not ready to work with them. The bench asked the multiplex association what they want to say.

As a response to the arguments, the multiplex association told the bench that they have been selling the tickets on their platforms and they want to continue the same. But the bench said that such permissions cannot be given in the current scenario.

The bench of Andhra Pradesh High Court comprising Chief Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice M Satyanarayana Murthy said that a parallel system cannot be permitted to sell the tickets as of now and the online system should be continued.

Posting the next hearing to July 12, the High Court said that let us see how the online system goes and based on the same the next action can be taken. We have to wait and see what happens here.
