Should Movie Buffs Eat For 3 Hours?: HC
X
Hyderabad High Court dismissed a PIL seeking directions to the authorities to take measures to restrain the stalls in Multiplexes from selling non-packaged food items and cool drinks at higher prices. Even a direction was sought to allow public to carry outside food items and water bottles into the multiplexes.

While quashing the PIL, The Division Bench questioned, 'Is there any necessity for Movie Buffs to eat for 3 hours while watching a movie? Public can always prefer single screens instead of multiplexes if they can't spend more. Consumer Forums can be approached for either heavy price tags or lack of quality. Judicial interference isn't possible in the PIL as it's related to Cinema Regulation Act, Food Safety Act, Weights & Measurements Act. Even Management of the Multiplexes aren't made respondents in the PIL'.

'My Movie - My Theatre' movement in Maharashtra has become successful. Maharashtra Government permitted people to carry outside food into theatres because of this movement against exorbitant prices. In Telangana, High Court hasn't reacted positively to the similar request.
