ESI Scam: High Court Refuses To Grant Bail For Atchannaidu
By: Tupaki Desk | 29 July 2020 1:30 PM ISTIn a brutal shock to the TDP leader, former Minister Atchannaidu who was arrested in connection with the much talked about ESI scam, the High Court quashed the bail petition filed by him.
The High Court denied the bail petition filed by the other accused in this case. Bail petitions of A1 Ramesh Kumar, Pitani Satyanarayana's PA Murali, and another accused Subba Rao were also quashed.
On the 12th of last month, the Andhra Pradesh Anti-Corruption Bureau(ACB) sleuths arrested nine people including Atchannaidu in connection with the ESI scam.
The report filed by the ACB claimed that back then when the Opposition TDP was in power between 2014 to 2019 many irregularities took place while procuring medicines, medical equipment. According to the ACB report, the ESI scam is worth of Rs 988.77 crore.
During 2014-19, Atchannaidu was labor minister. Going by the letter written by the Minister, the contract of procuring medicines and other medical equipment was given to M/s Tele Health Services Pvt., Ltd.
It is believed that a huge scam took place while procuring medicines, surgical equipment, and furniture for the state-run ESI hospitals.
