High Court Says Customers at Brothel House cannot be Prosecuted!

These days, the Courts at various levels are giving some landmark verdicts on various issues. Joining the list, the High Court gave a key verdict on the prosecution of customers who go to sex workers. Hearing a petition, the High Court made some key comments on the prosecution of customers in such cases.
In a landmark verdict, the Andhra Pradesh High Court said that customers who go to brothel houses for sex workers cannot be prosecuted. The Court made these comments while hearing a petition filed by a person who hails from the Guntur region of Andhra Pradesh. In the petition, the petitioner sought directives from the court to cancel the case filed against him.
A couple of years back, one Ch Raj Kumar was booked by the cops after he was caught as part of the raids conducted at a brothel house. Later, he was produced before a first-class judicial magistrate. The proceedings are underway before the magistrate court.
Challenging the proceedings, the petitioner had knocked on the doors of the Andhra Pradesh High Court seeking orders to cancel the proceedings. The lawyer who represented him said that in a few cases earlier, the Court said that the customers cannot be prosecuted when caught at the brothel houses.
Quoting the verdicts given by the High Courts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka in the past, the petitioner's lawyer said that earlier, the courts said that prosecution of customers who go to brothel houses for the sex workers cannot be allowed, and if the prosecution is permitted in the case, then it goes against the verdict given by the courts in the past.
Satisfied with the arguments mentioned by the petitioner's lawyer, Justice D Ramesh of the Andhra Pradesh High Court had issued directives that the case filed against the petitioner should be canceled.
Backing his arguments, the lawyer said that his client is just a customer in this case, and other than that, he has nothing to do with the racket or the brothel house. Stressing the orders given by the courts in the past, the High Court of Andhra Pradesh gave a big relief to the petitioner.
