Developing Vizag as the next film hub is not a new demand. Even in combined Andhra Pradesh, Ramanaidu studios was set up in the shore city. Legendary filmmaker late Dr. D. Ramanaidu set up Ramanaidu Studios there. It is one of the iconic locations in the city. After the state bifurcation, the demand got a big momentum.

When the state bifurcation happened, the previous government tried its best to develop the shore city as the film hub. The current government is also focusing on this. Earlier, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy asked the Tollywood delegation led by Megastar Chiranjeevi to shift to Vizag and they will be given the required lands for houses and studios.

Of late, we are hearing a lot about the land that was allotted to Vizag Studios back in 2003. Earlier there were reports which say that the land is in danger of encroachments as the Vizag city is dubbed as the executive capital of the state.

Amid this, the Andhra Pradesh High Court made some sensational comments on the land issue and suspended the PIL. TDP MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna filed a public interest litigation challenging the conversion of Ramanaidu Studio lands into a real estate venture.

However, the court made some key comments and said that there is no merit in the PIL and that every violation cannot be questioned with public interest litigation. Talking about the issue, the court said that it appears to be a fight between two rich persons. Having said that the petition was suspended by the court.

The MLA found fault with the approver given by the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) commissioner to convert the 15.8 acres of 34.44 acres of land into a residential layout.

In an interview with a popular outlet, Suresh Babu, elder son of Ramanaidu cleared the doubts on the land allocation and said that they paid a higher amount than the actual price of the land and they can use the land for any purpose as the lands were not given for any subsidy price. It looks like the same happened with the land now.
