Hijab Controversy: Kamal Haasan warns Tamil Nadu
By: Tupaki Desk | 9 Feb 2022 5:55 AM GMTNeighboring state Karnataka has been in the middle of the news for the infamous reason for the past few days. The political heat and controversy around the issue are getting bigger and bigger. As the situation turned tense, holidays were granted to a few educational institutions by the Karnataka government.
The Hijab controversy which resulted in a big uproar among the Muslim students across the educational institutions had attracted wide rage attraction from various sections. Both Muslim students and Hindu students found supporters in the whole issue.
Actor-politician, Makkal Needhi Maiam chief Kamal Haasan, who remained tight-lipped on the issue had broken his silence finally. Taking to Twitter, Kamal Haasan had dubbed the issue as communal.
In a tweet made in Tamil, Kamal Haasan had opined that the controversy is inculcating communalism among the students. Having expressed his concerns on the issue, Kamal Haasan warned that Tamil Nadu should be careful.
Citing the situations in Karnataka, Kamal Haasan said that, we should be more careful to see that similar situations won't get repeated in Tamil Nadu.
Kamal Haasan has been a vocal critic of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led Union government. In every possible situation, Kamal Haasan had raised his voice against the policies of the Union government.
Earlier, when the Union government had proposed amendments to the existing Cinematograph Act, Kamal Haasan had objected to the same and urged the Union government to not go ahead with the decision saying that it will stop the filmmakers from expressing their thoughts through stories.
Tracing back the Hijab controversy, it took place earlier last month after a few Muslim students were asked to not attend the College in Hijab and follow the prescribed uniform. When the Muslim students said, they will attend the college only in Hijab, the Hindu students have started a protest by attending college in saffron shawls.
After going through a lot of twists and turns, the Hijab controversy had made its way to the Karnataka High Court. All eyes are on the High Court verdict. While the Muslim students are hoping that, they will get relief in Court, Hindu students have pinned high hopes that the uniform code will be followed in the college.
