Himachal Man Wants To Hang Nirbhaya Convicts

Activist Ravi Kumar belonging to Himachal Pradesh has written a letter to President Ram Nath Kovind to appoint him as a temporary executioner in Tihar Jail to hang the convicts in the Nirbhaya gang-rape case.
Ravi Kumar, from Shimla, has written to President Kovind to appoint him as a temporary executioner in Delhi's Tihar Jail as there is no executioner there. He states, "Appoint me executioner so 'Nirbhaya' case convicts can be hanged soon & her soul rests in peace".
Delhi Jail Director General Sandeep Goyal said there was no authorised trained executioner in Tihar Jail who can perform the duty of a hangman.
Nirbhaya was gang-raped on December 16, 2012, before she and her friend were thrown out of a moving bus. A few days later, she died at a Singapore hospital. The incident sent shockwaves across the country, triggering nationwide protests demanding that the accused be punished at the earliest.
