Huzurnagar By-Elections: Out Of 119 Nominations, Only 31 Accepted
By: Tupaki Desk | 2 Oct 2019 12:21 PM GMTA set of 119 nominations was filed by 76 candidates. Election commission accepts only 31 nominations during the scrutiny and said other nominations rejected because they were not in order.
The CPI-M received a jolt as its candidate Shekar Rao's nomination was also rejected. The officials said the candidate nomination papers are not found in order. Rao and his candidates protested at the office of returning officer Chandraiyya and said the returning officer is supporting the ruling party.
At the time of nominations, Huzurnagar by-elections seemed to be closer to the Nizamabad election, but no one expected that more than 50% of nominations get rejected. There is a perception that more are likely to be out of the field until the process is completed.
