Hyd Teen Girl dies after 68 Days Fasting

A Teenage Girl from Hyderabad passed away after fasting for 68 days during the Jain holy period 'Chaumasa'.
Aradhana, the girl, was on a liquid diet after fasting period. She was taken to the hospital two days after the Jain fasting period was completed as her blood pressure dropped. While undergoing treatment, She died of cardiac arrest. Hundreds of people who have been to the funeral hailed her as 'Bal Tapasvi'.
Jain Community Member Lata Jain told people who undertake 'Chaumasa' were glorified and honoured with gifts by the religious heads. She, however, doesn't approve Aradhana giving up water and food for the sake of fasting as she is a minor. She treats the death of the 13-Year-Old Girl as a suicide or murder.
Aradhana, earlier, took up fast of 41 days and she successfully completed it. This time, The 68 days fast took a toll on her health. She is an 8th class student in St Francis School. Cops told a case will be registered after preliminary enquiry.
