The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) of Hyderabad has successfully implemented an e-boarding pilot project. The new E-boarding process allows a flyer to check in electronically without traditional paper boarding passes. The e-boarding facility eliminates all the manual process involved and it covers end-to-end all the key passenger processes at the airport, starting from entry to terminal and including check-in, security check, boarding gate and finally the boarding bridge check before entering the flight.

Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju on Monday launched e-boarding facility at Hyderabad airport. With this, the GMR Group-run airport has become the first one in the country to have such a facility.

Now a passenger flying from the airport will need only a mobile e-boarding card and his Aadhaar card number to gain entry into the airport. The project was launched earlier this April and Hyderabad and Bengaluru airports implemented e-boarding facility on pilot basis. The minister said that the e-boarding facility should be introduced at all airports in a phased manner to provide greater convenience to the passengers.
