Chintala Venkat Reddy is one of the Padma Shri awardees announced by the Government of India on the eve of 71st Republic Day. Suddenly, People began inquiring about this Telangana Farmer who achieved one of the highest civilian honours of the country.
Not many knew that Chintala Venkat Reddy is the first independent farmer in India to attain international patent for his brilliant technique in soil swapping and soil fertility. He is one of the best when it comes to soil management techniques. In fact, Mr.Reddy was the first organic farmer to grow seedless grapes.
Chintala entered into farming during the period 1979-80. Instead of using fertilizers, He believed in the old principle of rejuvenation of topsoil for obtaining double crop production. The technique of using soil as a pesticide and nutrient made him what he is Today. Grapes grown in his farm were tasted by former American Presidents Bill Clinton and George Bush. Paddy grown by Chintala solved the eye issues of many people.
Venkat Reddy hails from Alwal in Secunderabad. He even established a research farm in his native place. His Younger Brother Chintala Kanaka Reddy is a TRS MLA representing Malkajgiri Constituency.
