Hyderabad which is the joint capital of Telugu States for a decade set a new record. But, It's not something either the Governments or Telugus will be proud of achieving.
Sadly, Hyderabad tops the list of Highest Number of Tax Defaulters in the country. 25 out of total 96 tax defaulters in the country are from Hyderabad itself. Ahmedabad holds the second position with 20 tax defaulters. If the amount is considered, Mumbai & Navi Mumbai are at the top of the table.
About 1,980 Tax Defaulters have been identified in the country. They were supposed to pay Rs 3,614 crore of Tax.
A Tax Official didn't hesitate to say it's not gonna be possible to recover the tax from any of the parties identified as defaulters. Uday Acharya, who is from Mumbai, has to pay Rs 779 crore of Tax but he is no more alive. While 69 tax defaulters weren't traced yet, 24 people have officially declared they are unable to pay the taxes.
