Ex-CM wages WAR against Theatre Monopoly
By: Tupaki Desk | 25 Oct 2016 10:07 AM GMTTheatre Monopoly is prevalent in all the Film Industries not just Tollywood. With 'Jaguar', It was proven that even Kannada Film Industry has been dealing with theatre mafia since few years.
Former CM Kumaraswamy came down heavily on few influential film personalities in Sandalwood for conspiring to remove 'Jaguar' from theatres. 'On the eve of Diwali, Films of Two Top Heroes were releasing. Just because they were star-studded films, There are attempts to remove 'Jaguar' which is still running with House Full collections from theatres. If we face such hurdles, what is the situation of small producers? I myself distributed several films in the past. Whenever other films are running successfully, I used to screen my film in the available theatres. But, The situation has changed now. Kannada Industry is under the grip of few influential people. I will see how they could pull out 'Jaguar' from theatres!,' he challenged at the success meet of 'Jaguar'.
Kumaraswamy produced 'Jaguar' with a budget of Rs 75 crore. Telugu version of this Nikhil Gowda starrer is a dud. Whereas, Kannada version might have performed decently even of the debutante's political background. That doesn't mean the film would recover the mammoth investment.
