Delhi court on Tuesday issued orders to Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi and her son Rahul Gandhi. The court has asked Sonia Gandhi, vice president Rahul Gandhi and other five accused to appear on December 19 in connection with a complaint filed by BJP leader Subramanian Swamy in the National Herald newspaper case.

On June 26 last year, the trial court issued summons to the Congress leaders on Swamy's complaint for alleged cheating and misappropriation of funds in taking control of the now-defunct daily. In his complaint Swamy alleged about cheating in the acquisition of Associated Journals Ltd. (AJL) by Young India Ltd. (YIL) - "a firm in which Sonia and Rahul Gandhi each own a 38 percent stake".

Congress leaders moved to high court asking to quash the plea issued by trail court. However high court rejected the plea and asked them to present before them.

Meanwhile Congress termed it "petty vendetta politics of the BJP". Accusing the BJP-led government of political vendetta, Sonia Gandhi reportedly told "Why should I be scared of anyone? I am Indira Gandhi's daughter-in-law. I am not scared of anyone."
