I-T Dept grills Sarath Kumar & Education Minister
By: Tupaki Desk | 11 April 2017 9:32 AM GMTIncome Tax Department served summons to Tamil Nadu Health Minister C Vijayabhaskar, Actor Sarath Kumar and MGR Medical University VC Geetha Lakshmi to appear before it for alleged tax evasion. Raids were conducted at the residences of Vijayabhaskar and Sarath Kumar few days ago. They collected crucial documents regarding the amount to be distributed for victory of TTV Dinakaran in the RK Nagar by-poll. IT suspects their role in the distribution of Rs 89 crore in RK Nagar ahead of by-election.
Minister Vijayabhakar, Sarath Kumar and Former AIADMK MP Rajendran appeared for questioning. Tension prevailed at the IT Department Office as speculations began doing rounds that they will be arrested. However, IT Officials allowed them to leave after questioning.
As per the information collected by IT Department, VK Sasikala Natarajan's Camp formed Committees to distribute money to voters of RK Nagar Constituency. Committee under CM Palanisamy's control was assigned the task to distribute Rs 13.27 crore for 22,193 voters. Here is the task for Committees headed by Minister Sengottaiyan (Rs 13.1 crore - 32,830 Voters), Minister Dindugal Srinivasan (Rs 18.83 crore), Minister Thangamani (Rs 12.67 crore), Velumani (Rs 14.91 crore), Jayakumar (Rs 11.68 crore) and Former Minister Linga (Rs 11.13 crore).
Majority of the cash seized by IT Officials so far is in denominations of Rs 2,000. PM Modi ordered for CBI enquiry if the seized Rs 2,000 notes were worth more than Rs 2 lakh.
