By: Tupaki Desk | 1 Aug 2017 4:35 AM GMTBJP Chief Amit Shah is contesting Rajya Sabha polls from Gujarat on August 8th. He is expected to win easily, given the strength of BJP in Gujarat assembly. This led to speculations that Amit Shah will quit as BJP President and join Narendra Modi cabinet.
Reacting to the buzz in political circles, Amit Shah clarified he won't be quitting as BJP President. 'I am happy doing my job as BJP Chief…don't want to go anywhere. I will be preparing for 2019 General Elections,' he said.
Saffron Party is going to win 2 out 3 Rajya Sabha seats in Gujarat for which elections are going to be conducted. While Amit Shah contests from one seat, Union Textile Minister Smriti Irani received the other one. For the 3rd seat, BJP fielded Congress Leader, who came into the party last week, against Sonia Gandhi's political secretary Ahmed Patel.
