I'm a Dalit from Guntur: Rohit Vemula in a Video

Days before he committed suicide, Hyderabad Central University (HCU) research scholar Rohith Vemula claimed he is a Dalit from Guntur. And now, This video footage has gone viral after the Government-appointed Judicial Committee disapproved his Dalit status.
Reportedly, The footage was shot at a tent where Rohit Vemula and his colleagues began staying after their suspension. Rohit Vemula spoke about his caste status, how his mother raised him, studies, student activities and suspension.
Rohit Vemula's suicide resulted in a huge uproar. There was a demand to sack Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani, Labour Minister Bandaru Dattatreya and HCU VC for alleged caste discrimination. Even the proposal of 'Rohit Act' surfaced. However, the panel has given clean chit to Irani, Dattatreya and HCU VC. It also came to the conclusion that there is no proof over Rohist Vemula's mom V Radhika's caste status (Mala community).
