IAS Absenteeism Worries YS Jagan
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 March 2020 2:54 PM GMTAP Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy took a serious view of the IAS and IPS officers leaving their stations during the weekends. Most IAS and IPS officers have their families in Hyderabad and fly off to Hyderabad every Friday evening. As a result, several key officials are not available for key meeting.
Recently, when YS Jagan Mohan Reddy conducted a review meeting at Amaravati, he found that several ministers were found missing. On enquiry, it was revealed that they had left for Hyderabad. Some had left for New Delhi without any apparent official work. He was told that it was a regular practice among the officials. Angered and upset by this absenteeism, YS Jagan directed Chief Secretary Neelam Sahany to issue orders that no officer can leave the station without prior intimation and permission. He said that the visits should be result-oriented and should achive something significant for the people of the state.
It has also come to light that some IAS officials were working from home and were not regularly visiting the secretariat. He also directed the CS to ensure that the officials visit the secretariat regularly.
