Yudhvir Singh Malik, the Chief Executive Officer in Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), has been relieved from his duties and posted as Additional Secretary in Niti Aayog on Tuesday. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet (ACC) headed by PM Narendra Modi has approved his appointment.

Mr.Malik is a 1983 batch IAS Officer of Haryana cadre. He was appointed as CEO of FSSAI only in September last year.

When Malik was the head of food safety watchdog FSSAI, Nestle's Maggi noodle samples were subjected to lab tests which eventually exposed the presence of excess lead content and Monosodium Glutamate (MSG). Subsequently, FSSAI imposed on ban on Maggi noodles brand on June 5th, 2015. Of course, The ban in Nestle's 2-minute noodles has been lifted by Bombay High Court later on grounds that manufacturing and sales would be permitted only after the fresh tests.
