IAS Officers Touch Kcrs Feet, Invite Sharp Criticism
X
In a very controversial and sensational act, two district collectors, both swearing by the civil service rules, did the unthinkable by touching the feet of Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhara Rao. This has become a hot topic of discussion as civil servants are not expected to pay obeisance by prostrating or touching the feet to any person.

When Chief Minister KCR toured Kamareddy and Siddipet districts as part of his state-wide outreach, Siddipet collector Venkatrami Reddy and Kamareddy collector Sharat touched KCR's feat. Both showed utter subservience when KCR sat in a chair in the collector's chambers after inaugurating the respective collectorate buildings. Interestingly, in both the places, the chief minister tried to stop them from touching his feet. Chief Secretary and several other senior IAS officers, who were present at the spot, were shocked by the behavior of the young IAS officers.

Their action has been criticized as utter subservience and several people have slammed their actions. The Opposition leaders have demanded action against the civil servants saying that they have brought disrepute to the IAS cadre.
