Ice Bucket Challenge raises $100 million

The ALS Association announced on Friday that it had surpassed a significant benchmark.It has raked in more than $100 million within one month time i.e from July 29 th Aug 29 th.Not only that thatÂ’s a 3,500% increase from the $2.8 million that the ALS Association raised during the same time period last year. Last year, from July 29 to Aug. 26, the group raised just $2.6 million.With this the fundraising campaign has put the ALS group into the top ranks for medical charity donations.
For those who are unaware of what ALS Ice Bucket Challenge is, well itÂ’s a trend that kicked off in the US to not only raise awareness but also donate for Lou GehrigÂ’s Disease. The online campaign challenges people to either dump a bucket of ice water over their heads or donate to support research for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig's disease.
When a person accepts the ice bucket challenge, he or she must challenge another person to partake in the fundraising effort.Once someone nominates you for this cause, you will either have to dunk a bucket of ice on your head or donate $100 to to the ALS Association.
The campaign went viral throughout social media and has drawn a growing number of celebrities worldwide, includes Bill Gates, Stephen King, Christiano Ronaldo, and Lady Gaga, among others.Now, the trend caught like a wild fire in Bollywood and Tollywood too .Many of our Bollywood stars went ahead and took up this challenge too.
