He has missed the limited-overs series against West Indies due to an injury and during his absence, KL Rahul performed well in white-ball formats for India. Former Indian opener Krishnamachari Srikkanth supported KL Rahul and said there is no competition between KL Rahul and Shikhar Dhawan.
Krishnamachari Srikkanth also said that runs against Srilanka won't count and if I was a chairman I won't pick Shikhar Dhawan T20 World Cup squad. In the last one year, Shikhar Dhawan scored 272 runs in 12 innings with a strike rate of 110.56 in T20I, while KL Rahul scored 356 runs in 9 innings with a strike rate of 142.40.
