Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu stressed the need for a change in the mindset of Indians. He questioned what's wrong about a Woman marrying again?
During the celebrations of International Widows Day, Venkaiah Naidu asked, 'Why Can't Women Remarry If Men Can? Though Widowhood is a sad thing to happen whether it's Men or Women, Women suffer more. Why can't a widow marry? The mindset has to change'.
Union Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad maintained measures taken by the government for Widows Empowerment won't be successful unless a mass movement takes place. 'Nothing much can be done without the change in people's attitude,' he said.
Loomba Foundation told India is where most widows in the World live and the count has crossed 46 million mark. Setting up National Commission for Widows and Inclusion of Women in the Minority Section are the demands of this Foundation.
