IIT Hyderabad Researcher Comes Up With A AI-Based Low Cost Testing Kit

Following the rapid growth of the pandemic cases, the importance of conducting tests has also increased gradually. As the cost of the tests is high, middle-class people are unable to bear the cost of it.
A team of researchers led by Prof. Shiv Govind Singh, Department of Electrical Engineering, IIT Hyderabad developed a low-cost kit so that the tests are made available for everyone irrespective of their class.
The Testing kit is based on Artificial Intelligence(AI) with an aim to reduce the cost of the tests. Pandemic tests can be conducted for symptomatic and asymptomatic patients within 20 minutes.
The team comprises of Dr. Suryasnata Tripathy, a postdoctoral research associate, Patta Supraja, a fourth-year doctoral student, and the research team of Prof. Shiv Govind Singh.
Patta Supraja who hails from the Kadapa region of Andhra Pradesh said that they have applied for the patent of the device and added that the cost of the kit will be Rs 350 per unit if produced at a huge level.
To monitor the efficiency of it, the testing kit was filed-tested at the ESIC Medical Collge in Hyderabad and the team is very confident over its efficiency range and termed the kit as their contribution to curing the pandemic.
