By: Tupaki Desk | 23 Nov 2019 4:49 AM GMTIn a much shock to Congress and Shiv Sena, Devendra Fadnavis of BJP was sworn in as Chief Minister of Maharashtra and Ajit Pawar of NCP will be the Deputy CM. The swearing-in ceremony took place today early in the morning.
Interestingly, hours before this ceremony the Shiv Sena and NCP had final talks regarding the formation of the new coalition government.
"I would like to express my gratitude to NCP's Ajit Pawar ji, he took this decision to give a stable government to Maharashtra & come together with BJP. Some other leaders also came with us and we staked claim to form government.," said Fadnavis.
''I took this decision as the discussions of the alliance of the three parties Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena was not ending. There was a need to give a stable government in Maharashtra," said Sarad Pawar's Nephew Ajit.
"Ajit Pawar's decision to support the BJP to form the Maharashtra Government is his personal decision and not that of the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). We place on record that we do not support or endorse this decision of his," Sharad Pawar said talking about his nephew supporting the Saffron party.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to congratulate the new CM and Deputy of Maharashtra.
''Congratulations to @Dev_Fadnavis Ji and @AjitPawarSpeaks Ji on taking oath as the CM and Deputy CM of Maharashtra respectively. I am confident they will work diligently for the bright future of Maharashtra," read his Tweet.
