Following the current trend of seeing fewer cases, India saw more than 1.32 lakh people getting infected with the novel Coronavirus in the past 24 hours. Compared to Thursday, the cases saw a slight dip.

In the past 24 hours, as many as 1,32,364 more people were tested positive for the virus, which takes the total number of infections caused by the respiratory disease to 2,85,74,350.

The national recovery rate, which has been improving gradually has gone up to 93.08 percent, after 2,65,97,655, patients have beaten the virus. This includes the fresh recoveries of 2,07,071, reported in the past 24 hours.

In the last 24 hours, 2,713 more people have succumbed to the virus, taking the death count in the country to 3,40,702.

The active cases remained below 20 lakh in the country, as the case count stood at 16,35,993, which translates to 5.73 percent of the total number of Coronavirus cases.

Five states reported the maximum number of infections, which account for a major share of fresh cases. Tamil Nadu(24,405), Kerala(18,853), Karnataka(18,324), Maharashtra(15,229) and Andhra Pradesh(11,421 ) reported the highest cases.

So far India had tested a total of 35,74,33,846 samples for Covid, out of which, 20,75,428 were tested on Thursday alone. As many as 22,41,09,448 vaccine doses were administered in the country.
