India clocks 62,224 New Covid Cases in 24 hours
By: Tupaki Desk | 16 Jun 2021 5:23 AM GMTIndia had clocked fewer fresh Coronavirus cases for one more time on July 16 as a piece of good news. However, the new infections saw a slight rise compared to the other day. Over the past week, India has been seeing less than one lakh Covid cases.
As per the data shared by the Union Health Ministry, 62,224 more people came in contact with the Covid-19 virus in the past 24 hours and the total toll of Covid cases in the country had zoomed to 2,96,33,105.
India reported over one lakh new recoveries in the past 24 hours after 1,07,628 people were cured in the past 24 hours. With the new addition, the recoveries in the country zoomed to 2,83,88,100. The active cases stood at 8,65,432.
Just like the Covid-19 cases, the casualties have also been decreasing. The total casualty toll has zoomed to 3,79,573 after 2,542 Covid patients breathed their last in the past 24 hours.
Kerala topped the list of states to report the highest cases in the past 24 hours with 12,246, followed by Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra with 11,805 and 7,652 cases respectively.
So far a total of more than 38 crore samples were tested across the country to detect the Covid-19 infections, while 19,30,987 samples were tested on Tuesday alone. More than 26 crore people were given vaccines in the country.
