India's Debt Touched Rs 82 Lakh Crore: KCR
By: Tupaki Desk | 20 March 2018 5:53 PM ISTOn Tuesday, BJP Members disrupted the speech of Finance Minister Etela Rajender on the State Budget in Telangana Assembly and complained about the growing debt. Quickly, CM KCR intervened and shot back, 'Isn't BJP which holds power in 21 States lending money? Are those States governed without any liabilities?'.
TRS Supremo asserted there is nothing wrong about borrowing for the sake of welfare programmes and development. He told even Developed Nations such as US and Japan follow the same model. 'While India's GDP is Rs 167 lakh crore, Debt is up to Rs 82 lakh crore (47 percent of GDP). This year, Centre is paying Rs 8.76 lakh crore of debt. Whereas, Telangana's debt is just 21 percent of its GSDP,' he drew comparisons.
KCR questioned Agitating BJP MLAs whether TRS Government hasn't done a single good thing in the past four years. He questioned, 'Can't the Opposition see Irrigation Projects, Asara Pensions, Gurukul Schools, Kalyana Lakshmi, Shaadi Mubarak and other welfare schemes? Madhya Pradesh Govt took inspiration from our Kit Scheme. It's unfortunate that Opposition complains TRS Government has done nothing'.
