UN Expresses Concerns Over Hathras And Balrampur Incidents, India Hits Back
X
The alleged rape incidents of Hathras and Balrampur surfaced in Uttar Pradesh which resulted in huge outrage across the nation with many activists and organizations calling for protests to condemn the acts.

Now the incidents reached the international level and the Intergovernmental organization United Nations expressed its concern over the sexual violence cases against women in India.

The UN Resident Coordinator in India issued a statement over the two sad incidents and said that the United Nations is saddened with the incidents and opined that women and girls who belong to the disadvantaged social groups are subjected to more gender-based violence.

These comments did not go well with the Ministry of External Affairs of India(MEA) official spokesperson Anurag Srivatsava and he hit back at United Nations for interfering in Indian issues.

Anurag went on to say that UN Resident Coordinator in India made rather unwanted statements over the violence cases against women and the Coordinator should know that the government took serious note of these incidents.

He hit out at the Coordinator and maintained that the investigation in these cases is under process and the external agencies staying out of it is appreciable.

In the Hathras incident that surfaced in Hathras district, a 19-year-old Dalit woman was reportedly assaulted and gang0raped by four men. In the assault, she developed spinal injuries reportedly.

Days after the Hathras incident, a 22-year-old woman was reportedly raped by two men in Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh. The victim suffered injuries and succumbed to it.
