India logs over 1 lakh Covid cases, worse is yet to come!

The hopes of beating the Covid went for a toss as the number of single-day cases being reported in India has been going up steadily from New Year. People gathering in large numbers for the celebrations is said to be one of the major reasons behind the massive virus transmission.
A day after reporting close to one lakh cases, India saw a slight jump in the fresh cases on Friday, and more than one lakh people were infected with respiratory disease. The unwanted development had raised many concerns as India witnessed more than one lakh single-day cases for the first time after seven months.
In the past 24 hours, as many as 1,16,836 were found positive for the deadly virus which is the highest in recent times. The last time India logged over one lakh single-day cases was back on June 6th last year.
Amidst the tense situation, the Union Government had written to the states to focus on ramping up the facilities and taking appropriate measures as the cases are going up at a rapid pace. In the letter, the Centre had particularly urged the states to keep an eye on increasing the facilities like ambulance and testing facilities.
Not just this, the recent studies hint at India yet to see the worst of the pandemic outbreak and if the same trend continues, India is likely to see the daily cases reach a maximum of ten lakhs. The studies say that the same might happen in this month itself.
If we have to take anything from the studies, India might see the peaks of the virus in this month-end and by the time we reach February, the situation gets, even more, worse than the peaks.
The study conducted by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) and Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Bengaluru predicted that the peaks of the virus might occur in January which would go the maximum by February.
Having said that, the study had found out that though the country might see the peaks of the virus, the impact the virus will have will vary from state to state.
