The bypolls for seven assembly seats in six states as opened up the election festival in the country with as many as 17 state assemblies and Lok Sabha elections lined up till mid-2024.Thus, the biggest poll festival season has begun in the country.

Soon after the assembly bypolls, there would be assembly elections in Himachal Pradesh. The polling for the 68-seat state assembly would be held on November 12. This would be closely followed by the Gujarat assembly elections in two phases. This will be held on December 1 and December 5.

In 2023, there would be elections in Nagaland, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura in the North East and in Karnataka of South India. There would be elections towards the end of 2023 in Telangana, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. Thus, a total of 11 assembly elections by the end of 2023.

In 2024, there would be Lok Sabha elections. In addition, the state assemblies for Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Sikkim, Odisha and Maharashtra will go for polls. While the elections for Maharashtra and Haryana would go to polls soon after the general elections, the remaining states will go to polls along with the Lok Sabha elections.

Thus, this is going to be a huge two-year-long election season in India with the whole country engaged in elections at one time or the other.
