India Registers Highest Single-day Covid-19 Cases In More Than Four Months

India reported the highest spike in fresh Coronavirus infections in more than four months with not less than 47,262 new infections. With this, the total number of infections has mounted to 1,17,34,058.
The last time India reported more than 47,000 fresh Coronavirus infections in a single day was back in early November last year.
The other day India witnessed 40,715 new infections. On Monday India added not less than 46,951 previous highest in 2021 in terms of single-day pandemic infections.
As per the information shared by the Union Health Ministry, six states continue to be the severely affected states with the pandemic outbreak. Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh, and Tamil Nadu account for over 80 percent of the cases in the country.
Among the six states, Maharashtra's condition is raising many fears and concerns. The Maratha land continues to report the highest number of cases. In the past 24 hours, the state reported 28,699 fresh infections in the last 24 hours.
The fresh casualties related to the pandemic also saw a sharp rise. While 199 people breathed their last battling the virus on Tuesday, the fatality count has mounted to 275 in the past 24 hours.
The active cases in the country stood at 3,68,457. After breaking the three-lakh milestone in active cases on Sunday, the active cases are going up with each day passing.
