India Reports 55,079 Fresh Cases In A Single Day

On the other hand, 57,937 patients recovered from the virus and discharged from the hospital accordingly. This takes the toll of the total recoveries to 1,977,779 with a recovery rate of 73.17%.
The total fatalities in the country zoomed to 51,797, including 875 people losing their lives in the last 24 hours.
There are 673,166 active cases in the country and the gap between the active cases and recovered cases increased to a whopping 1,304,613 giving hope.
According to the data of the Indian Council of Medical Research(ICMR), around 8,99,864 samples were tested on Monday and as of the 17th of August, a total of 3,09,41,264 samples have been tested.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh continue to be the worst-affected states in the country with the outbreak of the ongoing pandemic.
Globally, the ongoing pandemic left as many as 22,035,261 patients infected with the respiratory disease, while as of now 776,830 patients succumbed to the contagious disease.
