India sees 62,258 new Covid-19 cases, highest since October 2020

India has once again reported a surge in fresh Covid-19 infections in 24 hours. According to the Union Health Ministry's data, India saw a rise in cases for the seventeenth day in a row.

A day after witnessing over 59,000 new infections, India added not less than 62,258 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, taking the Country's caseload to 11,908,910.

India saw the highest single-day infections with over 60,000 Corona infections since October 2020. We are at the third spot in the list of countries affected by Covid-19 after the United States and Brazil.

As many as 291 Covid-19 casualties were reported in the last 24 hours and the total casualties triggered by the ongoing pandemic have mounted to 161,240 in the country. India's mortality rate stood at 1.4 percent.

As one more disturbing fact, the overall recovery rate has also come down to 94.85 percent. Including 30,386 fresh recoveries, the total Covid-19 recoveries rose to 11,295,023. The active cases stood at 452,647.

Telangana witnessed 495 fresh Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours, taking the total caseload to 3,05,804. With two fresh casualties, total fatalities increased to 1,685. So far a total of 2,99,878 patients have recovered from the virus.

On the other hand, Andhra Pradesh added 984 new cases, and the total pandemic cases reached 8,96,863. As many as 7,203 people have lost their lives battling the virus.
