India Sees Massive Spike In Single Day Covid-19 Infections With Over 2 Lakh Cases

As many as 2,00,739 new COVID-19 cases have been registered in the country, in the past 24 hours. The fresh addition of infections pushes the country's total toll to 1,40,74,564.
On the other hand, India recorded the highest single-day fatalities since October 3, 2020, with not less than 1,038 casualties. The total fatalities in the country rose to 1,73,123.
Since the past 36 days, India has been registering a constant rise in active cases. As of April 15, India has a total of 14,71,877 active cases. The active cases translate to 10.46 percent of the total cases in the country.
When the single-day Coronavirus infections are increasing at an alarming level, the recovery rate in the country has been decreasing. India's recovery rate which once stood at more than 95 percent has now fallen to 88.31 percent.
The national capital Delhi is suffering from the virus outbreak as the fresh infections and casualties have increased in the past 24 hours. Nigambodh Ghat, the biggest crematorium in Delhi saw a rise in cremations.
With 17,282 fresh cases of COVID-19 on April 15, the national capital saw a record single-day infection since the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has hit the country in January last year.
Maharashtra continues to be the worst-affected state in the country with not less than 58,952 fresh coronavirus cases. The state now has a total of 35,78,160 infections and 58,804 casualties.
