It is a big concern given the fact that Indians make up the highest population among the Asians who migrated there.

But the unwanted trend is such that Indians and Indian-origin people are hitting the headlines for all the wrong reasons. Recently an Indian-origin person was found guilty of cheating the Apple company to the tune of a few million. He accepted his crime and is awaiting a jail term.

Now another Indian is found guilty of fraud to the tune of eight million dollars. The person did not even shy away from using Covid as a reason. He used the Covid relief scheme and earned a big amount. As a result, the federal system suffered losses of around $8 million.

Going into detail, one Abhishek Krishnan who is a resident of Wake County, North Carolina was reportedly found guilty of cheating the government for eight million dollars. He used fake certificates and documents and cheated the government. He even submitted the doctored documents.

The 40-year-old is believed to have earned a big amount by using the Paycheck Protection Programme (PPP) loans. It is known that loans are given to small businesses to lend them a helping hand under the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act. Seeing that Covid had left a devastating impact on businesses, the federal administration started the relief act.

But the big twist is that the accused also duped a person reportedly by using the name of the person and he has no idea of this. Besides involving in big fraud he is also said to have received loans of over three million. He is charged with the charges of fraud and money laundering.

The case is such that Krishnan might end up facing a jail of not less than 20 years and at least 2 years of jail for the theft charges. People are talking about this and expressing wonder about how an Indian-origin person defrauded the federal government.
