Indian Team Creates History, Wins Maiden U-19 World Cup!
To give the much-needed boost to women's cricket, the governing bodies are coming up with new tournaments. The BCCI recently announced the Women's Premier League on the grounds of IPL. The bidding for the players for the teams will be started soon. The ICC also started the U-19 tournament for Women players for the first time.

The inaugural edition was started in 2023. In the first edition, India won the tournament. India and England locked horns in the finals and India crushed the English team. After restricting England's team to a small score, India easily chased the target.

By taking wickets at regular intervals, the Indian team restricted England to a mere score of 68 runs. Titas Sadhu gave the first big breakthrough by sending Liberty Heap that too in the very first over. Other bowlers did the rest by taking wickets regularly.

Big hitter Shafali Verma lost her wicket early and Shweta Sehrawat joined her. But Soumya Tiwari and Trisha made a big partnership and took India to a grand victory. Celebrations broke out after India won the inaugural U-19 tournament.

After winning the tournament, BCCI honorary secretary Jay Shah congratulated the team for the victory and announced a big cash prize of Rs 5 crore for the entire team and the support staff. The U-19 team was invited to watch the third T20 between India and New Zealand in Ahmedabad.

"Women's Cricket in India is on the upswing and the World Cup triumph has taken the stature of women's cricket several notches higher. I am delighted to announce INR 5 crore for the entire team and support staff as prize money. This is surely a path-breaking year," Jay Shah tweeted.
