Indians Are Second Largest Migrants In US After Mexicans!
By: Tupaki Desk | 17 April 2023 5:29 PM ISTAmerica is a land of opportunities and this makes the nation the dream destination of many. Be it students, professionals, or others, people have the US dream for a better opportunity. It is no wonder that the number of people who want to migrate to the United States is increasing day by day.
As a result of this, the migration population is increasing rapidly in America. More than 45 million people migrated to the United States. This translates to around 13.6 percent of the total population of America. This shows that the percentage is getting bigger and bigger.
Asians are moving to the United States in big numbers and whenever we talk about the largest immigrant population, Asians come to our mind. But recent data said that Mexicans are the largest group of U.S. immigrants living in America. As of 2021, their population comprises 24 percent.
On the other hand, Indians are in second place followed by the dragon country China. While the Mexican population is 10.7 million, the Indian population there is around 2.71 million and the Chinese population stands at 2.38 million. However, one factor needs a mention here. Though the Mexican population is the highest among the immigrants in the US, the population fell compared to two decades back. Earlier in 2000, the Mexican population stood at 30 which came down by 6 percent.
The data mentioned here is the official data and the numbers would be even bigger if the data of illegal migrants would also be included. To give an example of this, the incidents of illegal migrants dying at the US border are increasing regularly.
The craze for America among people is such that the waiting period for visas is over one year. This speaks volumes about how desperate people want to go to America. Let us get into the reasons for this.
America is a superpower nation and it offers good services and benefits. The United States follows the rule 'Education is compulsory for all children'. So everyone can go to school. In many states, education is free from Kindergarten to 12 th class. People need not pay money for this.
In many nations including India, it costs a bomb to send children to schools and colleges till the 12th. If they can move to the US, the same money can be saved and the education standards are better compared to here.
