Industrialist Who Refused 50K Suit Dies At 98

Industrialist Basant Kumar Birla passed away at the age of 98 in Mumbai on Wednesday. He is the Grandfather of Aditya Group Chairman Kumar Mangalam Birla.
Born on January 12th 1921, Basant Kumar Birla was the youngest son of Industrialist Ghanshyam Das. He has been suffering from health issues since the past few years.
The role played by Basant Kumar Birla in setting up the platform for his Grandson Kumar Mangalam to take over the Birla Group of Companies is remarkable. Turnover of BK Birla Group comprising of 20 companies is around Rs 15,000 crore.
Basant Kumar Birla once told, 'I don't need a suit costing Rs 50,000. Instead, I will use that money for charity'.

Birla Group set up more than 25 Educational Institutions including BITS in Pilani and BILAMS in Kolkata.
