Intruder sneaks into CM's house, spends whole night unnoticed
By: Tupaki Desk | 5 July 2022 2:39 PM GMTIn a shocking incident that triggered a security scare in the higher echelons of the West Bengal Government, an intruder managed to sneak into the heavily-guarded residence of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee. Not just that. He spent the whole night hiding inside the house and no one noticed him for hours.
Highly placed sources say that the man scaled a wall of Mamta's Harish Chatterjee Street at around 1 am. He stayed in one corner of the residence and was spotted only in the morning. He was arrested at about 8 am on Monday. The police said that the intruder was identified as Hafizul Mollah and is a resident of Hasnabad in 24 Parganas district.
The police said that the man was giving incoherent replies and said that he mistook the CM's residence for a police headquarters. But he had no reply as to why he wanted to go to the police headquarters. The police are investigating the whole incident. They have handed over the intruder to the Kalibari police in Kolkata. He is booked under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Meanwhile, the security establishment is conducting a thorough check of the whole set up at the CM's official residence. A review of the security protocol of the chief minister has also been ordered. How the man could enter a Z plus category establishment is still baffling the police.
