IPL Auction freezes for a few minutes after auctioneer Collapses!
By: Tupaki Desk | 12 Feb 2022 10:42 AM GMTAll eyes are now on Bengaluru as the IT Capital of India is hosting the two-day mega Auction of Indian Premier League. For the same reason, the heads of the franchises have reached the city and have been carefully picking the players.
However, an unexpected development was reported from the ongoing auction as an auctioneer had collapsed on the dias all of a sudden resulting in a tense situation.
As a result, the auction was stopped for a brief period and resumed. The staff there rushed to auctioneer Hugh Edmeades. As he seems ok, the organisers said the bid will be resumed in a few minutes.
Hugh Edmeades is a big name in the auction arena. He has been in the field for more than three decades. Having held the auction for various sports in the past, he recently joined the IPL and the ongoing auction marks the maiden auction for him as far as the IPL is concerned.
At the time when the IPL was paused after the auctioneer had collapsed, bidding was going on for the Sri Lankan leg spinner Wanindu Hasaranga. RCB had quoted the high price of Rs 10.75 crore. We have to wait and see who wins the bidding.
