IRCTC launches Cash on Delivery of Railway Tickets

Cash On delivery is more popular among online shopping users and now the facility is available for the irctc users. Yes..Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the nation’s largest e-ticketing website, will for the first time offer the cash-on-delivery option for buying railway tickets.


Govt passed the new provision of paying money after booking the ticket. You can now book a rail ticket online and get it delivered at home where the payment can be made.This new scheme will be useful for the customers who dont have credit/debit cards and netbanking facility.One has to just book the ticket online and payments will be made at the time of delivery of tickets.


This scheme has been launched on pilot basis and the service will be available in cities like Mumbai;Jaipu;Pune;Ahmedabad and states like Banglore and Kolakata.Customers can book a ticket 5 days prior to commencement of journey.

Rs 40 will be charged for the delivery of each Sleeper Class ticket and Rs 60 will be charged for an AC class ticket. The service is expected to help IRCTC cut the high transaction failure rate on its website and it also reduce traveller’s dependence on agents. Currently, 42% of people buying tickets online use Internet banking, 24% use credit or debit cards, and the rest use prepaid cash cards or other mediums, according to IRCTC.


This service will be made available through a partnership with BookMyTrain.com.The website is expected to go live in the next four to six weeks.The domain name BookMyTrain.com has been registered by Noida-based Anduril Technologies Pvt. Ltd.
