In a shocking incident IRCTC website which is used for railway ticket booking has been hacked. Sensitive data of more than 1 crores customers include Date of birth, PAN card, credit card and debit card is reportedly stolen from the website.

A secret meeting was reportedly took place on Tuesday to discuss the issue and officials have discussed on measures to figure out how far the hackers have got into the system. Meanwhile IRCTC has denied the claims... "IRCTC website has not been hacked. Enquiry is being conducted regarding alleged data sale," it says on Twitter.

IRCTC is one the biggest e-commerce website in India which processes more than one lakh transactions per day and given the sheer size of IRCTC, it could be the biggest data theft ever in India's history. As per reports in media the hacked data have been sold in a CD for Rs 15,000 for whosoever was interested.

IRCTC has formed a six member high-level committee to look into the matter. IRCTC is seeking help of Maharashtra police and the Maharashtra cyber cell to sort out the issue.
