Sharmila to lose Deposit of Rs 10,000

Civil Rights Activist Irom Sharmila received a huge setback as she contested against Congress Chief Minister Okram Ibobi in Thoubal constituency during Manipur Assembly Polls.
By 11.40 PM, Okram Ibobi is leading with 18,649 votes. Whereas, Irom Sharmila secured just 90 votes so far. In fact, She wasn't even able to get even as many votes as that of NOTA. About 143 People have chosen NOTA option in this Assembly segment. Sharmila is likely gonna lose her deposit of Rs 10,000.
Ahead of counting, Irom Sharmila told money and muscle power has been used by all the major political parties to secure votes. She made it clear the result doesn't affect her much.
Irom Sharmila carried out a door-to-door campaign to educate people about corruption, crimes and human rights violation. She, however, wasn't able to defeat Okram Ibobi who in winning in this Assembly segment since 2007.
